Photography for your Wedding Abroad
I’ve just added a Weddings Abroad Photography Package to my wedding photography offer for 2011.
I myself got married abroad, in a beautiful medieval castle on Lake Garda in Italy. It was absolutely perfect for us, with the stunning scenery, delicious food and drink and very chilled out celebration with close friends and family. Malcesine is a gorgeous place for a wedding and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
I go to lots of lovely weddings but luckily I have never felt I could have done things better for my own wedding- except for the wedding photography. We paid to cover the formal stuff, but not the rest, and thinking friends would capture the day on their point and shoot cameras was a mistake- they weren’t there to do that, and so much got missed. As a wedding photographer now I kick myself at the opportunities missed and moments not captured of my own wedding day.
So, if you are getting married abroad remember the photography is can still be a really important part of your plans. You may get the resort photographer, who turns up and shoots some posed portraits and delivers the disc of straight out of camera jpegs with your breakfast the following day. You may get someone who doesn’t speak much English. You probably won’t get to meet them beforehand, scope out their style or work with them on an album afterwards.
If you book my destination wedding package you get the reassurance of a professional UK based photographer, someone who you can deal with before and after the wedding as well as on the day. Your photos are professionally edited and finished, and presented on disc and in a quality wedding book to tell the story of your day. As well as full coverage of your whole wedding day I’ll cover any celebrations happening the night before, and offer a more relaxed Day After portrait session for you to make the most of your location.
I’m currently offering bookings for Weddings Abroad at a discounted price of £1000, plus expenses. Just fly me there, and put me up for a minimum of 3 nights.
I’m available for destination weddings for UK couples anywhere in the world. Just get in touch and tell me about your plans!
My Italian Wedding Photos
Last week was my 2nd wedding anniversary so I thought I would share some pictures from my own wedding.
Jeff and I didn’t want a traditional English wedding so we decided to have our wedding abroad. We flew out with 16 of our close friends and family and got married in Malcesine, a pretty village on Lake Garda in Italy. The ceremony was held on the terrace of the medieval Malcesine castle perched on the rocky lake shore. It was so beautiful looking out over the blue lake and mountains, with the terracotta roofs and windy streets of the village below. After the civil ceremony we walked through the cobbled streets and boarded our private boat for a champagne cruise on the lake. We spent our evening at the lakeside, eating, drinking and laughing, enjoying a scrummy 7 course Italian feast and plenty of wine.
A wedding abroad is not for everyone, but if you want to do something different to the big family do then I cannot recommend it enough. The setting, the weather, the food and drink, are all so amazing. The whole week we were at Lake Garda was a celebration and a really great holiday. (Jeff maintains the best day was in fact speed boat day, not the wedding)
Our photos were taken by Gwen at Lake Garda Weddings, who were excellent in organising the whole wedding for us (another recommendation there). Such a great place for wedding photos too, I would love to go back and photograph a wedding in Malcesine (ps- I you are getting married in Lake Garda and want an English Photographer who knows the location then get in touch for a great rate!)
