Bradgate Manor Wedding: Allie & James’ Country Fete Wedding

Allie & James had a fun village fete themed wedding in Southampton on a sunny summers day. They were married at St Mary’s Church in Sholing and were driven in a vintage model T ford to Bradgate Manor in Southampton for the marquee reception. Out on the lawn guests could play splat the rat, have a space hopper race and have a go on the wedding party coconut shy. In the marquee Allie had made all the table decorations, with pretty birdcages entwined with flowers, tealights, and jam jars of purple wildflowers. Each guest had a handmade fabric bird and a packet of seeds as favours. The ceiling was festooned with beautiful bunting in vintage floral prints, and there were sweet little touches like homemade colouring books for the children, and pashminas for chilly shoulders. All the planning was worth it, the day was fun and relaxed, and went from a summer’s afternoon garden party to an evening party, everyone dancing the night away to the band.

A Countryside Wedding in Somerset: Nina & Simon

Nina & Simon had a pretty English Country garden wedding in the quaint Somerset village of Norton Sub Hamdon. Nina’s amazing lace dress was made by her mum and she was accompanied by her sisters as bridesmaids in colourful floral print dresses. They were married at the village church, and rode on the back of a steam tractor to the reception at Simon’s parent’s B&B.   The marquee in the garden of the mill was decorated with haybales and bunting and colourful meadow flowers in welly boots on the tables. When the guests arrived they were greeted by the Yeovil Town Brass band and enjoyed Pimms on the lawn before sitting down for an Afternoon Tea, served on mismatched vintage china, with favours of homemade chutney. Here are some photos of their beautiful day.

Most Fun Wedding Ever: Kelly & Phil’s outdoor wedding at Taplins Place

Kelly & Phil’s wedding has to be the most fun wedding I have been to. They created a very fun, very ‘them’ day, full of quirky details, silly moments, and most important of all they had a brilliant time of it. They got married at Taplins Place in Hartney Witney, on a beautiful sunny day. Kelly arrived in a van, from Kelly Van Hire of course, while Phil and the guests sat down on the patio for the outdoor ceremony. As Paul McCartney’s The Frog Song played out Kelly’s bridesmaid walked up the aisle, followed, much to everyone’s surprise by a willing volunteer riding a giant duck. (ok so the pictures explain this better) After an emotional and funny ceremony, everyone enjoyed drinks in the garden, with kids and adults alike having a go on the bouncy castle.

Inside, the room was set up with a sweetie buffet, origami cranes, bunting, and the self professed Best Table Plan in the Whole World. Fact. I loved that Phil and Kelly named their table’s after things they like, such as Reading Festival, Red Dwarf, Dinosaurs, Cats and the Rik Mayall Appreciation Society. After speeches, the cutting of the porkpie cake, photos in a field and some sour sweets, it was time for the evening reception. Instead of an evening buffet, guests could get something from the kebab van. Libby and I had a hilarious evening with the Photobooth set up in the summerhouse, and everyone rocked out to the band, including a little performance from the groom himself.

Due to the fact I spent literally half my day laughing, and for this to still be ‘work’, this was perhaps one of The Best Weddings in the Whole World. Fact.

Lucy & Matt’s Wedding at Jermyns House, Hillier Gardens

Lucy & Matt’s beautiful flower filled summertime wedding was a photographic feast. They got married at St Mary’s Church in Bishopstoke and celebrated their reception in the grounds of Jermyn’s House at Hillier Gardens in Romsey. Lucy’s mum is a florist, and put so much love and attention into the pretty country theme, with stunning purple and yellow wildflowers, bunting and sweet apple place names. The church and the marquee looked so amazing. It was one of the few sunny days in May, and everyone drank champagne on the lawn of Jermyn’s House, which sits in the middle of the beautiful gardens at Hilliers. After the wedding breakfast we took a walk in the grounds and got some lovely portraits with Lucy and Matt who are just so sweet together.  Congratulations Mr & Mrs Howell! Here are some photos from the day..

Alex & Nick’s Outdoor Wedding in a Field near Winchester

Outdoor weddings are amazing! Alex and Nick got married on a sunny April day in a field looking out across the rolling Hampshire countryside. They did the legal bit at the registry office the day before, so were free to have the ceremony out in the sunshine. It was so lovely being out in the fresh air and hearing the birds singing while they said their vows, with their friends and family providing the readings, music and leading the ceremony. Afterwards they went for a drive in the vintage Rolls Royce and we did some photos in the pretty bluebell woods on Farley Mount. They returned to the celebrations, held in a huge teepee tent, decorated with so many colourful flowers. Guests sat on reindeer furs on the long benches, tucking into pie and mash, and as the sun set, a fire was lit, and the summertime festival became a warm and cosy party. One of my favourite weddings to photograph, the outdoors setting was gorgeous, everything was so well put together and so personal, without interference from a church, council official, hotel or venue, and Alex and Nick were such a fun and chilled out couple. Many Congratulations Alex and Nick!
